IC disclosureLast week I had the extreme pleasure of checking out the John HancockVitality Village at Grand Central Station, hosted by actor Chris O’Donnell.

There was a lot of do in the John Hancock Vitality Village. Actor Chris O’Donnell hosted and talked about John Hancock’s new partnership with Vitality.

John Hancock just introduced a whole new approach to life insurance in the U.S. that rewards customers for healthy living. They’ve entered into an exclusive partnership with Vitality to integrate life insurance with a comprehensive healthy living program for U.S. consumers. They are first insurance company to do this. This means policyholders receive personalized  health goals and can easily log their activities which are integrated with personal health technology. Policyholders begin accumulating “Vitality Points” after their policy is issued and when they complete health-related activities, like exercising, annual health screening, or even a flu shot.

The number of Vitality Points a policyholder earns over the course of a year determines their program status level. The healthier their lifestyle, the more points they can accumulate to earn travel, shopping, and entertainment-related rewards and discounts from leading retailers.

Additionally, depending on the type of product they purchase, a policyholder could save as much as 15% off their annual premium. Which sounds pretty amazing to me.

The focus of the John Hancock Vitality Village was small ways you can incorporate into your life to be healthier.

1. Better Nutrition:

You could sip on some yummy green juice, made by nutritionist Keri Glassman. As it was still Passover and I had to stay away from all bread products, I sipped on some green juice, which I have to admit, I loved.

2. Exercise:

In the Vitality Village you could also take a boot camp class. Which was definitely high impact! What’s your favorite way to exercise?

3. Relaxation:

Another way is relaxation — get a massage to de-stress and rest.

4. Financial health:
If your finances are healthy, you’ll have less stress and be healthier. If you know what your financial outlook is, it’s easier to relax.

I took the John Hancock Vitality Age Quiz and to my surprise, it said my age was 52 (I’m 44).
